Krishnadas Murali Returns With 'Rasaleela', Promises a Fresh Cinematic Direction
KOCHI : Director Krishnadas Murali is set to expand the Bharatanatyam franchise with its third installment, Rasaleela, marking a significant creative shift for the popular Malayalam film series. While retaining the franchise’s familiar characters, the upcoming film is expected to introduce a horror comedy backdrop, offering audiences a distinctly different cinematic experience from its predecessors.
The official announcement has generated considerable interest among Malayalam cinema fans, with Rasaleela positioned as a fresh chapter rather than a conventional sequel. The film aims to blend comedy, mystery, and supernatural elements, reflecting the growing popularity of horror comedy narratives in regional cinema.
Saiju Kurup will once again headline the franchise, continuing his association with one of Malayalam cinema’s emerging comedy series. Under Krishnadas Murali’s direction, the creative team is expected to preserve the franchise’s signature humour while exploring a darker and more suspenseful storytelling style.
The first two films established the Bharatanatyam series as a family friendly entertainer. With Rasaleela, the makers appear to be broadening the franchise’s appeal by experimenting with a new genre without abandoning its core identity.
Although the makers have not yet announced the complete cast, release schedule, or technical crew, the official announcement has already sparked discussions across social media. As anticipation builds, industry observers believe Rasaleela could become the franchise’s most ambitious project to date, reinforcing Krishnadas Murali’s intention to take the series in an entirely new creative direction.
