Jana Nayagan Roars at the Box Office: Vijay’s Final Film Crosses ₹112 Crore Worldwide

Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated political action drama Jana Nayagan continues its impressive theatrical run, emerging as one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of 2026. Despite witnessing the usual second day slowdown after a massive opening, the film has maintained strong momentum both in India and overseas.

According to the latest trade estimates, Jana Nayagan has collected ₹65.79 crore (India net) by Day 3, while its worldwide gross has crossed ₹112 crore, reaffirming Vijay’s enduring box office appeal and the film’s strong international performance.

The film opened with an outstanding ₹42.70 crore India net on its first day, becoming one of the biggest Tamil openings of the year. Tamil Nadu remained the primary market, recording exceptional occupancy across multiplexes and single screen theatres, while overseas territories also delivered a strong start.

Although collections dipped on Day 2 as is common after blockbuster openings the film added ₹21.15 crore India net, taking its two day domestic total to ₹63.85 crore. Overseas collections also remained robust, helping the worldwide gross surpass the ₹100 crore milestone within just 48 hours.

On Saturday (Day 3), early trade figures indicate that the film added approximately ₹1.94 crore during initial reporting, pushing the India net collection to ₹65.79 crore. Final Day 3 numbers are expected to increase as evening and night shows are fully reported.

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is widely regarded as Vijay’s final full fledged feature film before focusing entirely on his political career. The movie stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, and Gautham Vasudev Menon in key roles.

Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film has drawn massive audiences due to Vijay’s immense fan following and the emotional significance of what is expected to be his farewell film. Director H. Vinoth recently expressed confidence that the film’s appreciation would grow over time, describing it as one of the most important projects in Tamil cinema.

Industry analysts believe the film is well positioned for a strong opening weekend, with Sunday collections expected to provide another significant boost. Sustained occupancy in Tamil Nadu, combined with healthy overseas business, could help Jana Nayagan maintain its momentum in the coming days.
